How to Create Multiple Themes and Schedule Your App’s Home Page?
With MageNative, you can build several home page themes for your app and schedule them to go live at a set date and time. Build your Diwali, Black Friday or weekend sale home page days in advance, choose when it should start, and decide what happens when the campaign ends. Your app switches on time, so you don’t need to log in at midnight.
Before you start
- Plan availability: The Standard plan lets you save up to 5 custom themes. The Premium plan has no limit. Scheduling isn’t included in the Starter plan.
- Custom themes only: Only your own custom themes can be scheduled. Built-in theme templates (such as Fierrara, Cailiny and Tridin) can’t be duplicated, scheduled or deleted. You customize them and publish them, the same way as before.
- Branding is shared: Your app’s colours apply to every theme. Each theme can have its own layout, banners and images, but it uses the same app colours as your other themes.
Understanding the Theme settings page
Open App Design from your MageNative app in Shopify admin. The Theme settings page groups your themes into four sections:
- Live theme: the theme your customers see right now, marked Live.
- Scheduled: themes set to go live in the future, with the date and time each one goes live.
- My themes: your draft themes. You can edit these without changing your live app. This section also shows how many themes you’ve used on your plan.
- Theme templates: MageNative’s ready-made layouts.

Step 1: Create a new theme
You can start a theme in two ways.
Start from scratch
- Click Create theme in the My themes section.
- Enter a theme name (up to 60 characters), for example “Diwali Sale 2026”.
- Click Create theme. A new, empty theme is added to My themes as a Draft.

Copy an existing theme
If you want to start from your current home page or reuse last year’s campaign, click the ⋯ menu on that theme and choose Duplicate. A copy named “[theme name] copy” is added to My themes with the same components and content. You can rename it from the same menu.

Step 2: Design your theme
- Click Customize on the draft theme.
- Drag components onto the phone preview, then edit each one. On smaller screens, tap Add instead. For help with individual components, see our theme components guide.
- When you make a change, a save bar appears at the top of the page. Click Save to keep your changes, or Discard to undo them.
- Click Preview at any time to check how the theme will look in your app.
Your live app doesn’t change while you work on a draft. It only changes when you publish the theme or when its scheduled time arrives.

Step 3: Schedule your theme
Click Schedule in the editor, or choose Schedule from the theme’s ⋯ menu. Then fill in the Schedule window:
- Theme: the theme to schedule. Only draft themes are listed.
- Start date and Start time: when the theme should go live.
- Timezone: this is set to your store’s timezone by default. Your browser’s timezone is shown underneath so you can spot any difference. This is useful if you or your agency work from another country.
- When the campaign ends: choose one of these options:
- Keep it live until you change it: the theme stays live with no end date.
- Switch to another theme on a set date: choose the Theme to switch to, plus the End date and End time. For example, you can switch back to your regular theme when the sale is over.
- Languages to publish: your store’s primary language is always published. If your app has other languages, tick the ones to include. A language with no translated content yet is greyed out, and shoppers see English instead.
- Email me when it goes live: keep this ticked to get an email at the store owner’s email address when the theme goes live.

When everything looks right, click Schedule.

The theme’s label changes to Scheduled and it moves to the Scheduled section. You’ll see a confirmation that nothing in your app changes until the start time.
If your schedule can’t be saved
Overlapping schedules: two themes can’t be scheduled for the same time. If your dates overlap an existing schedule, you’ll see a message naming the theme that’s already scheduled. Choose a different start or end time.
Theme not ready: before a theme is previewed, published or scheduled, MageNative checks it for problems, such as a theme with no components. If something needs fixing, you’ll see This theme isn’t ready to schedule with a list of what to fix. Click Open in editor to fix it, then schedule again. If your app has several languages, the check lists the issue for each language. These checks help make sure your campaign doesn’t fail when it goes live.

Step 4: Manage a scheduled theme
Use Reschedule to change the dates, or click the ⋯ menu on the scheduled theme for more options:
- Customize, Preview, Duplicate and Rename work the same as for drafts.
- Publish makes the theme live straight away and cancels the scheduled campaign.
- Cancel schedule removes the schedule. The theme goes back to My themes as a draft, and nothing changes in your live app.
- Delete removes the theme.

Publish a theme straight away
To make a draft live right now, click Publish in the editor or choose Publish from the theme’s ⋯ menu. You’ll be asked to confirm, because the theme replaces your current live theme right away. Your previous theme stays saved in My themes, so you can publish it again whenever you need to.
What if I reach my theme limit?
The Standard plan includes 5 custom themes. You can see how many you’ve used next to My themes. Once all 5 are used, Create theme and Duplicate are turned off. To add another theme, delete one you no longer need, or click Upgrade plan to move to Premium for unlimited themes.
Quick tips
- Build and schedule festive themes a few days early, so you have time to preview them.
- Set an end date for sales, so offers don’t stay up after they’ve finished.
- Use clear names that include the year, such as “BFCM 2026”, to keep your theme list easy to scan.
